Making it easy for your prospects to find you

The Internet is an enormous global entity. There are trillions of web pages and billions of websites which can be accessed via your web browser. Optimizing your shop’s site for search engines is a crucial way for potential customers to find you.

When using a search engine, each query is mathematically calculated to produce results based on specific criteria. The right SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on your website will mean the difference between showing up on the first page of Google, and not showing up at all.

What is Search?

This refers to the act of looking for your website, or for the websites of people in your industry. For instance, a potential customer might go to Google, and type into the search box “manufacturing and machine shop companies."

The list of results that come up are determined by hundreds of factors that search engines take into consideration. SEO helps make your site 'popular' with search engines so that it is among the top results, allowing people to easily find your company.

What is SEO?

On the Internet, you must sell more than just your inventory and your designs, but also your website. With the right SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, you can attract valuable new leads. Good SEO makes web search engines bring your website closer to the top of the search results.

SEO has been shown to have a better ROI than TV and print ads. It can give your factory the visibility you need to grow your company, and establish the branding that will make you stand out. Website SEO also offers you, the business owner, with invaluable insights into online customer behavior.

It’s important to have your website appear when related searches are made. Many times when users search for a product or service in the industrial sector, a person will actually make several separate queries before picking a manufacturer to investigate.

Getting your site to show on the first page using related keywords gives you more exposure. You become memorable. It is more likely that your site will be clicked on, and because it was seen the most out of various searches, it would seem the most trustworthy.

How does a well-maintained website translate into sales?

Similar to the concept of exposure, if your website is poorly maintained and doesn’t have an active online presence, no one will be able to get to it, no matter how great your SEO is.

When people search and find that a website is offline, they are likely never to return to that site again. Especially if they have never heard of your company before, potential customers are going to assume that your company is no longer in business, or less reputable because your site is unreliable. Online presence equals reliability. If your website is unreliable, potential customers will quickly start to think that your company is unreliable, too.
